MUSKEGON, Mich. — As the 2026 football season approaches, the Orchard View Cardinals enter the year with a clear mission: continue building the program and take the next step toward postseason football.

After finishing 5-4 a season ago and narrowly missing the playoffs, Orchard View has made it clear that standing still is not an option. The Cardinals have strengthened their schedule with non-conference matchups against Wyoming and St. Clair, signaling a commitment to challenging themselves against quality opponents and improving their postseason resume.

For Head Coach Aaron James, the focus remains on steady improvement and daily development.

"We understand that it's not going to happen overnight," said James. "So we have to work our tails off and get better."

That mindset has become the foundation of the offseason as the Cardinals prepare for another competitive campaign.

While Orchard View graduated several key contributors, James believes a strong core of returning players will help lead the program forward. Among the athletes expected to play significant roles this season are Damari Wright, Ca'Mari Reese, Lawrence Spencer, Corey McCain, and Kenyon McCauley. Their experience and leadership will be critical as the Cardinals continue their pursuit of sustained success.

Beyond wins and losses, however, the program has embraced a simple mantra: PRIDE.

For Orchard View, pride is not an acronym or a slogan. It is a way of life.

The message throughout the program is straightforward: take pride in the classroom, take pride in the weight room, and take pride in how you represent yourself throughout the community. Carry that same pride onto the football field, and the result will be Cardinal Pride.

That culture-first approach has become a defining characteristic of the program under James and his staff. The Cardinals understand that success on Friday nights begins long before kickoff. It starts with discipline, accountability, and a commitment to improvement in every area of life.

With a challenging schedule, experienced returning talent, and a renewed focus on daily growth, Orchard View believes it has the pieces in place to make noise in 2026.

The journey back to the playoffs will not be easy, but the Cardinals are embracing the challenge. Fueled by pride and driven by the lessons learned from last year's near miss, Orchard View is determined to prove that its best football is still ahead.
