Muskegon, MI - For Orchard View junior Ca'Mari Reese, labels don't define his game.

While MLive recently recognized Reese as a top quarterback in Division 5, those who have watched him play know he's much more than a quarterback. He's the heartbeat of the Cardinals' offense, a dynamic playmaker, and one of the most versatile athletes in West Michigan.

Reese enters the season after an electrifying sophomore campaign in which he did a little bit of everything for Orchard View. He led the Cardinals in rushing, receiving, tackles, and return yards, earning honorable mention All-State recognition while proving to be one of the area's most complete football players.

On the ground, Reese rushed for 1,245 yards and 17 touchdowns on just 89 carries, averaging nearly 14 yards every time he touched the football. Through the air, he hauled in 12 receptions for 265 yards and two touchdowns, while also completing 4-of-7 passes for 110 yards and another score in Orchard View's run-heavy offensive attack.

His impact didn't stop when the offense left the field.

Defensively, Reese recorded 46.5 tackles, and on special teams he returned six kickoffs for 241 yards and two touchdowns, consistently giving the Cardinals a spark whenever the ball found his hands.

Despite being recognized as the top quarterback in Division 5, Reese isn't letting the honor change his approach.

"This doesn't add any pressure to me because I practice to get better every day," Reese said. 

That mindset is one of the qualities that has helped him become one of Orchard View's leaders and one of the state's rising stars.

His unique skill set is one of the reasons Orchard View head coach Aaron James believes Reese's future extends well beyond the high school level.

"Great leader, tremendous athlete with the ability to play any skill position on the field," James told MLive. "Ca'Mari plays quarterback for us but will be a college running back or defensive back."

That versatility is exactly what has made Reese one of the state's most exciting players to watch. Whether he's taking a snap under center, breaking off a long run, making a tackle, or changing momentum on special teams, Reese has the ability to impact the game in every phase.

Being named a top quarterback in Division 5 by MLive is another significant milestone, but Reese remains focused on the process rather than the praise. His commitment to improving every day reflects the work ethic that has fueled his rapid rise.

Entering his junior season, Reese will once again be counted on to lead a Cardinals team with high expectations and a roster filled with emerging talent. With his explosive athleticism, leadership, and ability to change a game in an instant, Reese has established himself as one of the premier players not only in Division 5 but across the state of Michigan.

As the
season approaches, Orchard View knows it has one of the state's most dangerous weapons under center—a player capable of turning every touch into a highlight and every game into a statement.
