Muskegon, MI -- The road to a district championship is officially set.

The MHSAA soccer district pairings have been released, and for Orchard View, there will be very little mystery when the Cardinals take the pitch. Every team in the district is a member of the West Michigan Conference, meaning Orchard View has already seen—and competed against—the teams standing between the Cardinals and a district championship.

Orchard View will open district play on Thursday Oct 15, taking on Manistee.

The matchup gives the Cardinals an opportunity to build on a result they already know they are capable of producing. Orchard View defeated Manistee 2-0 earlier this season, but the postseason brings a different level of intensity, and the Cardinals will need to be ready for a Manistee team looking for another opportunity.

There will be no shortage of familiarity throughout the district.

In the other opening-round matchup, Montague will host Shelby, while Oakridge will take on Hart. Whitehall earned the district's first-round bye and will await the results of the opening round.

For Orchard View, advancing against Manistee would send the Cardinals into the district semifinals, where they would face the winner of the Hart-Oakridge matchup.

The district semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at Oakridge.

From there, everything comes down to one game.

The district championship is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at 10 a.m., with the winner punching its ticket to the Regional stage of the MHSAA postseason.

For a Cardinals team that has spent the season battling familiar conference opponents, the district tournament will be less about discovering what each opponent brings and more about executing when the stakes are highest.

The Cardinals have already seen the competition.

Now, they'll have to step up when it matters most.
