The Nest, Inside Orchard View Athletics
I'zavion Spears, Damari Wright, Peyton Babbitt, and Camari Reese capped off an outstanding season by finishing 19th in the state with a time of 43.42 seconds. Their finish placed them in the top half of all Division 2 relay teams that qualified for the state meet, a remarkable accomplishment for a group that spent the season chasing excellence.
Simply qualifying for the state finals is an achievement in itself which four did by finishing fourth in the Regional event, but the Cardinals were not content with just making the trip. This relay team consistently improved, developing chemistry through countless handoff repetitions, conditioning sessions, and races against some of the toughest competition in West Michigan.
For the athletes, coaches, and supporters of Orchard View, the state finals appearance served as a reminder of what can be accomplished through commitment and perseverance. Finishing 19th in the state is a distinction that few athletes ever achieve, and the Cardinals earned every bit of it.
While the season has come to an end, the accomplishments of Spears, Wright, Babbitt, and Reese will be remembered as one of the highlights of Orchard View's track and field campaign. Their state finals performance showcased not only their speed, but also the pride and determination that define Cardinal athletics.
The four runners leave Hamilton with more than just a finishing place. They leave as one of the top relay teams in Michigan, a testament to the work they put in and the standard they helped establish for future Cardinals to follow.
